It’s Monday morning and students are running and rubbing their eyes. The past seven days have been a nonstop party for students. Monday through Friday was called “Spirit Week.” Each day gave students a chance to express themselves and show their school spirit.
Monday was class color day — seniors were green, sophomores were orange, juniors were green, and freshmen were orange. Tuesday was Decades Day — seniors were the 1980s, juniors were the 1960s, sophomores were the 1950s and freshmen were the 1970s. Wednesday was Twin Day, which allowed students to dress up with their friends in the same outfit.
Thursday was Superhero/Famous Face day. The superheroes that were the favorites among people were Superman, Batman and Spiderman. However, the most well thought out costume was Quail Man from Nickelodeon’s “Doug.”
Friday was Blue and Gold day and also the day of the pep rally. The spirit stick was handed over to the seniors, class of ’08, because they had the most school spirit. “My favorite day was Twin Day,” said junior Anna Carson, “but I liked Spirit Week because it gave me an excuse to dress up really stupid every day.”
Friday night was the Homecoming game where we played the Riverbend Beans. At half time, small trailers for the classes drove around the field. The Homecoming Court was introduced. Takeela Herndon won Homecoming Queen while her Homecoming King was John Monk.
The game was entertaining and dry until the end of the third quarter. The wind picked up and the sky dumped rain but the fans still enjoyed the game. The game went into triple overtime before Riverbend finally finished the game with a touchdown. The final score being 34 to 40.
“My favorite part of the game was when it started to rain,” said sophomore Chloe Yeager, “but I enjoyed the overall game because it gave me a chance to socialize and show my school spirit.”
