My career hasn't followed a straight line — and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. Through high school and college, I was all in on print journalism. There was something deeply satisfying about chasing a story, getting it right, and putting it in front of people who needed to read it. For a long time, I was convinced my future lived in a bustling newsroom, working my way up to managing editor and never looking back. Then the media landscape shifted — and kept shifting. Layoffs became routine, and even with a master's degree in digital media in hand, the ground beneath journalism felt increasingly unsteady. Eventually, I made a decision that once would have been unthinkable: I walked away from the newsroom. It felt like a breakup. Storytelling and truth-telling weren't just what I did — they were who I was. What I didn't expect was how quickly I'd find a new home for those same instincts. Nonprofit communications turned out to be a place where the things I love most about writing actually matter. Over the years, I've written talking points and internal communications for C-suite executives, built out comprehensive communications plans, launched a learning management system, and a whole lot in between. The throughline across all of it is the same thing that drew me to journalism in the first place — the belief that the right words, in the right hands, can move people to think, feel, and act differently. And no matter where my career has taken me, I always come back to writing. Every detour, every pivot, every unexpected chapter has only confirmed what I knew from the very beginning — writing was my first love. It still is. This portfolio is a reflection of that.
