The Stafford High School community came together on the night of Friday, February 1 to support Elizabeth Proctor, a student who was seriously injured in a car accident. The benefit dinner, organized by the National Honor Society, drew a large crowd of students, teachers, and community members who turned out to show their support.
The event raised more than $1,000, which will go directly to the Proctor family to help with medical expenses. NHS members spent weeks planning the dinner, coordinating food donations, decorating the venue, and spreading the word throughout the school and surrounding community.
“We wanted to do something that would really make a difference for Elizabeth and her family,” said one NHS officer. “It’s hard when something like this happens to one of your classmates, and we wanted her to know that the whole school is behind her.”
The turnout exceeded organizers’ expectations. Students who had never attended an NHS event before showed up to contribute, drawn by their connection to Proctor or simply by the desire to help.
“I didn’t know Elizabeth that well, but I knew I had to come,” said sophomore Ryan Morris. “This is the kind of thing where you just show up.”
The Proctor family expressed their deep gratitude to everyone involved. The funds raised will help cover costs as Elizabeth continues her recovery.
